Billing FAQ

Does the itssafe4.me shopping cart use SSL? Yes. We use industry standard SSL to encrypt transactions.

Is the service available now? Yes. While the site is still under construction, the service and the online payment center are fully functional. After signing up, you should receive an e-mail with the correct DNS IP addresses for you to use. If you don't, use the "free trial" IP addresses and contact us. The permanent IP addresses will be e-mailed in a timely manner.

I didn't get the DNS settings e-mailed to me. What happened? See the above question. But be sure and check spam and trash folders. Some mail programs will mark these e-mails as spam and move them to a spam folder.

Service FAQ

How does itssafe4.me work? It works by filtering DNS requests.

What is DNS? The Internet works on IP addresses, like 12.191.191.152. Humans tend to think in terms of names, like itssafe4.me. The DNS system bridges the two, so that when you request itssafe4.me, the DNS request returns the IP address of the host server, which your computer then uses to pull up the web site. Because of this DNS is an integral part of the Internet.

What is DNS filtering? It simply means that when you type in a URL to an adult, virus, or malware web site, the DNS returns a bogus IP address, causing the real site to simply not load. There is an online Flash demo which clearly shows an example of a site in its unblocked and blocked state (as well as how non-blocked sites continue to work exactly as before).

How many sites are blocked? Hundreds of thousands.

Will it block every adult site? No. Absolutely no filter will work flawlessly. Like virus software, this service is proactive, in that it only blocks known sites. New sites may come online that may be unblocked for a period of time. Older sites may simply have been missed. However, given its ease of use and very fair pricing structure, there is no better way to start your journey to a family safe internet than itssafe4.me

Will it slow down my computer? No. It is not software loaded on the computer, so it won't slow it down. Using the service only requires changing your DNS servers from your ISP's servers, to the filtered DNS servers. This usually takes less than 5 to 10 minutes in most cases.

Will it work behind a router? Yes. In fact, it makes the service easier to install. Just change the DNS LAN settings and then password the router to keep someone from tampering with the settings. Businesses can protect their entire network by changing a few settings in their router.

Will the service work for me? The service should work for everyone, unless your ISP filters DNS for some reason. There are test DNS IP addresses available, making it simple to verify that the service will work with your ISP.
